Please take a look to the right for information on the upcoming Poker Party!
Also, along the right column, you'll find info on who to call when you feel moved to bring over a casserole or coffee cake, and a bit on how this whole thing started.

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE DOWNS !!!!
Just cuz you are 16, dont even think you get to drive. Drive me crazy? YES. Car? NO
Love you more than anything...Ok, not as much as a bean burrito with green sauce and sour cream. But you are so DANG close. You're like the mild Tacobell sauce that I drench it in. :)

  5. Peg, you, Randy and the kids have been a part of us, (Gerrit and I) ever since we have been together. Along with the many friends(Teri, LeAnn, Susan, Mary, and Julie) we are like family and are going to be going with you on this fight every step of the way. There is no one I admire more for her strength, perserverance and ability to deal with the many trials and tribulations that you have had to. If anyone can beat this intrusion into your body and life, it is YOU!! WE LOVE AND OUR EXTENDED DOWN'S FAMILY, Carolee & Gerrit

  6. Dr Volk saw me Fri and gave some some very promising news. The chemo I will receive should kick butt nicely. Said I, if anybody had a fantastic outlook. I called Sandy Gladding the best surgeon I know. The nicest person as well. She will be seeing me tomorrow at 11am to arrange surgery to put in the ports for chemo. One in my chest for IV, and one in my abdomen for what they call intraperitoneal chemo. kick this things butt from all angles.

You are one of the most amazing, giving and strongest woman I have yet to meet. You will beat this...Peg Downs....you will beat this. Besides you know there is something very powerful inside those Taco Bell bean burritos with green sauce and sour cream...with the Chemo and burritos...you"ve got it covered...:)

  9. music has always been a part our (me and peg's) lives growing up. As you read this you are listening to music she has chosen to prove to you that giving up is not an option. I have chose some lyrics from some songs I love to say a few things about my sister and her feat to defy gravity.

    IT HAPPENS-SUGARLAND
Now it is poor me, why me, oh me
Boring the same old worn out blah, blah story
There is no good explanation for it at all

    Ain't no rhyme or reason
    No complicated meaning
Ain't no need to over think it
    Let go laughing

Life don't go quite like you planned it
We try so hard to understand it
    Irrefutable, indisputable
The fact is psssh it happens

    CLOSER TO LOVE- MATT KEARNY

    She got the call today
    One out of the gray
    And when the smoke cleared
    It took her breath away
    She said she didn't believe
    It could happen to me
I guess we're all one phone call from our knees
    We're gonna get there soon

    If every building falls
    And all the stars fade
We'll still be singin' this song
The one they can't take away
    I'm gonna get there soon,
    She's gonna be there too
    Cryin' in her room
    Prayin' Lord, come through
    We're gonna get there soon

    Chorus:
    Oh it's your light,
    Oh it's your way,
Pull me out of the dark
Just to show me the way
    Cryin' out now
    From so far away...
You pull me closer to love
    Closer to love

    BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER-S&G
    When youre weary, feeling small,
    When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
Im on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
    I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
    I will lay me down

  10. Peg, I'm so sorry to hear this news. I am however so glad I got to hook up with you at our small band reunion. If anyone can kick the crap out of this, it's YOU. Keep your chin up and know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Jen Boyle

  11. To all of my friends that have battled cancer but especially to Peg that has a fight ahead of her. You are awsome my friend, this is for you. Jen

    Me

    You can't make me lose.
    You can't make me frown.
    I will not give in.
    I will not let down.

    I will still love and
    I will still live.
I will show you who's boss
    until I make YOU give.

    You can't take my heart.
    nor take my soul.
    You are NOT the part
    that makes me whole.

My life may take a turn
    it may be rough
    But I will win
    because enough is ENOUGH.

    Cancer is your name but
    you are not me.
    I know one day
of YOU I will be free.
